Abstract
In healthcare facilities, medical devices used for diagnosis, treatment, surgery, etc., are routinely reused. Recently, medical devices have become increasingly more complex in shape with progress of medical technology. Cleaning and sterilization technologies are also making progresses in healthcare facilities, but because priority is placed on the functions of medical devices, cases where cleaning and sterilization of reusable devices are extremely difficult have increased. Here, we would like to introduce cleaning and sterilization techniques currently performed in healthcare facilities and propose that consideration be given to the development of medical devices from the standpoint of a manufacturer of washers and sterilizers for medical use.
