Abstract
In association with energy conservation techniques, reduction of pipe friction by adding drag reducing agent has attracted attention. Drag reducing agent has not only the effect of drag reduction, but also a low environmental load and a natural resources saving. However, at the present, drag reducing agent to satisfy all these conditions have not been found. In this study, we show that the bamboo fiber is drag reducing agent that is both natural resource-saving and low environmental load. As a result of pressure drop measurement, we clarify the drag reduction by using the bamboo fiber suspensions. The maximum drag reduction is about 18%, and it is affected by Reynolds number, concentration and pipe diameter. In addition, the bamboo fiber can easily remove from suspensions by using filter.
