Abstract
To improve performance of anode for solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC), a new anode with a proton conductor was proposed. In the current research, we focus on the proton conductor made of Strontium Zirconium Yttrium oxide (SZY, SrZr_<0.95>Y_<0.05>O_<3-a>). In order to evaluate effect of adding SZY to anode, power generation experiments were investigated using Ni/YSZ and Ni/YSZ-SZY anode. The output density of the cell with SZY didn't decrease more drastically than that without SZY even if the partial pressure of hydrogen went down. Moreover, the amount of hydrogen adsorption of Ni, YSZ, and SZY were measured by using a Thermal Desorption Spectroscopy, and it was disclosed that SZY could adsorb large amount of hydrogen compared with YSZ. Since the hydrogen adsorbed on the SZY surface might be supplied to an area around triple phase boundary in anodic reaction, anode overpotential may be reduced.
