Abstract
Rocket engine turbopumps are the high-speed turbomachinery which feeds the high-pressure liquid to the combustor. It is known that rotor lateral vibration problem is one of causes of accidents in the rocket engines. A concept of a new design method was proposed to avoid excessive rotor vibration. This method is a kind of multidisciplinary optimum design taking account of the rotordynamic characteristics. It consists of two steps. One is the selection process of the layout of sub-components, and the other is the selection process of the diameter and axial length of elements.
