Abstract
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the kinetic characteristics of children with cerebral palsy (CP) in standing-up motion, compared with normally developed (ND) children. As the method for the evaluation, the measurement of motion, and a basic analysis by two-dimensional model and inverse dynamics, were conducted. According to the measurement, CP children's bottom values of upper-body angle were 10° larger than those of ND children, and the bottom values of upper-body angular velocity were approximately 2 times than those of ND children. According to the numerical simulation, ankle joint moments of CP children were approximately 0 at the beginning and the end of motion, and the peak values of waist joint moments of CP children were by the amount of 10 Nm larger than those of ND children. However, the trajectory of their center of gravity was similar to that of ND children although CP children's trajectory was slightly pulled back after they lifted their hips from a chair. From these results, the kinetic characteristics of a CP child are presumed to be the loss of ankle flexion and the fast and excessive tilting of upper-body, the similar trajectory of center of gravity with a ND child.
