Abstract
This research proposes an idea of active display to show the corresponding head movement in remote communication. First, this paper presents an overview of the proposed idea, and then describes the preparation of active display, where a robotic arm controls a smartphone as an active display. This study focuses on three types of head movement; namely, nodding, bending and shaking, or indicating affirmative, not for sure and negative, respectively. Using these three types of typical head movement by the active display, effectiveness of the active display was examined.
