Abstract
This study describes effects of feed rate on side cutting phenomena in micro-end-milling of hardened die steels. Cutting experiments were carried out using micro-end-mills of 0.5-mm in diameter. Cutting force, surface roughness and wear width of cutting edge were measured to make clear the cutting phenomena. As a result, it was revealed that not only machining efficiency but also the tool life increases with the feed rate.
