Abstract
The muting function is permitted under some limits in EN 692 (European standard of Press machine) and ANSI B 11.1 (American standard of Press machine) and so on. And also in ISO13849-l:2006(international standards of safety-related parts of control systems), the muting function is permitted under some limits. But the safety requirements of the start and end of muting function are not provided clearly in these standards. This paper compares the requirements of the muting in these standards and define the start and end of the muting function by the protective device. It is important to clear the functions of the protective device including the muting function. As the result of this paper, the function of the protective device for the mechanical power press including the muting function could be applied consideration to other presses of the different structure.
