Abstract
In the present study, the remote field eddy current testing (RFECT) was used to detect surface flaw in flat ferromagnetic plates. A phenomenon similar to a remote field for a tube type test piece was confirmed in this measurement system by using the U type component with the magnetic shields. The appropriate distance between the excitation coil and the pick-up coil were analytically examined to detect the surface flaws of ferromagnetic plates. Furthermore, the behavior of obtained signal for the surface flaw was accurately discussed.
