50th Anniversary of Tribology

Abstract

“Tribology” celebrated its 50th anniversary last March. During the past half century, Japanese industry has shown remarkable progress. This article briefly follows in the footsteps of the progress to show how tribology has contributed to it and then to society, and discusses a future direction tribology should take.
