Abstract

In recent years, influence of the interaction of brain waves in the occurrence of epilepsy has been taken up to evaluate epileptic discharges in detail. The purpose of this research is to analysis of the relationship of brain waves due to the generation of epileptic discharges. Therefore, proposed method utilizing coupled non-linear oscillator was applied to 5 channels ECoG data of epilepsy model rats (N=5). By the least square method, fluctuations in the state of brain waves are associated with as changes of model parameters which are determined as conservation, dissipation, nonlinearity and input quantity, respectively. Variation of the model parameters showed that the following: the relationship between the epileptic focus and its surroundings is gradually stronger by epileptic discharges occur. Nonlinearity which brain wave originally possess is reduced in the brain waves around the epileptic focus, but it is increased in far place from epileptic focus. These results suggested that this method might be able to evaluate of the characteristic of the epileptic discharges in detail.
