MR Fluid is a suspension with ferromagnetic particles, medium oil, and several kinds of additives. It forms clusters of the particles along magnetic flux applied on it, and generates flow resistance. Due to the sedimentation of the particles, long-term storage makes hard cake at the bottom of the fluid, and its redispersion is a big problem in the commercial MR fluids. In order to evaluate the particle sedimentation, we investigated effects of acceleration with a centrifugal machine. The result shows differences between the sedimentation in the natural gravitation and that in the high acceleration with the centrifugal.
