Abstract

We have developed a small power supply of a DBD plasma actuator(PA)to use a PA as control surfaces of a model airplane. The power supply has favorable characteristics to drive a PA. We think that a PA is applied to a vertical control surface having a symmetric airfoil instead of a usual rudder. As the vertical control surface, two airfoils with the PA were examined. Aerodynamic characteristics of the airfoils were measured with varying a velocity ratio of uniform velocity to induced velocity by the PA. As a result, the control surface with PA can be used as a device to control yawing moment of a model airplane in low speed.
