Abstract

To reduce shaking forces and moments in the positive displacement machineries, symmetrical reciprocating mechanism design termed as “Cross-balance mechanism” is proposed and developed. It is shown that the mechanism is very effective to reduce vibrations and reaction torque. Only the higher components of the shaking moment around symmetric axis remained. It is known that the higher components cannot be canceled in usual structure of “Cross-balance mechanism”. Therefore, in the present study, modification theory and its design method are developed. It is theoretically shown that the shaking forces and moments in positive displacement machineries can be canceled completely.
