Abstract

In the forth industrial revolution, cyber physical production systems (CPPS) will provide many efficient features both for large enterprises and small and medium size enterprises (SME). For successful implementation of CPPS, it is important to have consistency between the cyber world and physical world in the shop floor. Especially in SME environment, it is hard to get appropriate data in the right place at the right time. This paper proposes an application of Kanban, which is one method in the series of Toyota Production Systems. Kanban can be considered as an information system in the physical world. Then, this research refers to Kanban as a gate way between cyber and physical worlds. By investigating a case of manufacturing management processes of SME, this paper proposes an example of CPPS model with a Kanban control system.
