Tomographic PIV is a powerful flow measurement tool for 3D-3C velocity diagnostics. Unlike the conventional 2D PIV, the essential image processing step of this type of PIV is the algebraic tomographic reconstruction based on multi-view projected images of the target flow. However, the accuracy and computation efficiency of different reconstruction schemes have not yet been studied in detail. In the present work, the effect of the difference of tomographic reconstruction schemes is investigated by using synthetic as well as experimental PIV images. Two comparative reconstruction schemes to be considered are the standard MART and the novel simple BP (back projection) technique.
