Abstract

Under wet conditions such as rainfall or snowfall, the rolling stock may slip on the rail because of the reduction of the adhesion between the wheel and rail. To prevent the slippage, a device called sanding device has been conventionally used to sand between rails and wheels. As an alternative to the sanding device, the authors developed adhesive material jetting device that uses ceramic instead of sand. As a result, the devices have been adopted for conventional rolling stock including Shinkansen. Adhesive material jetting device is used as a countermeasure against sliding. In order to determine whether the jetting of ceramics is normal or abnormal, the evaluation was made by comparing the voltage detected by the sensor with the magnitude of the threshold. On the other hand, it is very important to monitor the jetting state of the adhesive jetting device, from the viewpoint of ensuring safety, and therefore the author has proposed a monitoring device using an electrostatic sensor to measure the flow rate of ceramics. In this study, the authors conducted the verification test for the proposed monitoring device. As the result of the test, it was confirmed that this device can output the voltage according to the flow rate of ceramics, and can monitor the jetting state of the adhesion jetting device by setting an appropriate threshold value for the output voltage.
