Abstract

In recent years, a press method called hot stamping for Ultra High Tensile Strength Steel is widespread in the automobile industry used to reduce the weight of a vehicle body. Thin hard coatings for dies in the hot stamping process are exposed to heat. And, there is no reliable evaluation method to check coatings quality. In this study, method of heat deterioration is repeat of contact heating coatings to a hot plate. It was evaluated the influence of heat deterioration to thin hard coating by Micro Slurry-jet erosion (MSE) test and fine particle erosion test. For the MSE test, it couldn’t evaluate quality of thin hard coating in depth direction. Because, the coating was too deteriorated. On the other hand, for the fine particle erosion test, heated specimen is less than unheated specimen in mass of particles to detachment of first layer.
