Abstract

Tribological properties of multilayered segment structured coating system were evaluated using a face to face contact testing apparatus in lubricated condition, the coating film consisted of segmentally aligned zinc (Zn) as an interlayer and uniform tin (Sn) film on cupper (Cu) substrate. After the coating, heat treatment as applied to increase in the substrate hardness resulting in the formation of solid solution and intermetallic compounds among Zn-Sn-Cu phase. Results showed that proposed film structure is effective to decrease in the friction coefficient and the wear amount.
