Abstract

In this research, a new print bed for a cylindrical 3D printer is proposed. The cylindrical 3D printer was developed for the printing of Archimedes’ screws, and printed screws are used for a snowmobile robot. In the previous research, a steel pipe whose dimensions are standardized by JIS was used for the print bed, so only a print bed with a specific diameter could be chosen. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a unique print bed using Styrofoam and its manufacturing method. The proposed method enables the printing of Archimedes' screw with an arbitrary cylinder radius.
