Abstract

In this study, the cutting sound inside the machine tool is extracted by a sound source localization method. The cutting sound may be used to detect tool damage such as chipping or wear. However, the inside of the machine tool is filled with equipment noises. Therefore, the cutting sound is extracted from the measured sound during machining by means of the sound source localization method. The measured sounds are converted into the Fourier spectra, and the cutting sound is extracted by using the phase differences between the measured sounds obtained by four microphones.

Also, reverberation sound in the machine tool is attempted to be removed from the measured sound.
