Abstract

The final goal of this study is to develop a vision-based measurement method of machine tool vibrations. In this paper, a measurement method of the vibration is proposed. In the proposed method, the displacement of the marker attached on the object is obtained through a video captured using a high-speed camera. To obtain the marker displacement, the center position of the marker is identified by fitting a quadratic function to the intensity distribution of the marker. Experiments were conducted to investigate the measurement resolution of the proposed method. The vibration displacement of a cantilever with various amplitude was measured using the proposed method. The measured displacement was analyzed in the frequency domain. The experiment result showed that the vibration with more than 3.4 μm amplitude could be detected.
