Abstract

In the previous paper, we reported the results of adding the equivalent errors due to the motions of rack and the distributed loads due to back tooth surfaces meshing to the conventional tooth deflection equation used for meshing simulation in rack and pinion for steering systems, which corresponds to a support structure in which a round rack without rotation constraint is pressed against a pinion by a spring. In this paper, we report the results of the verification of this developed meshing simulation method on two items: the variation of the rack sliding load under no load on pinion, and the wear of the tooth surfaces after endurance test.
