Social and Regional Innovation Activities Based on the Joint Research Laboratories Embedded in the University

Abstract

In order to solve complex societal issues that exist in community and to revitalize the community, it is effective to have universities and companies work closely together, and to involve local governments and citizens. We have established joint research centers within universities and are working with the university and local community to understand the issues, develop the necessary technologies, create solutions, and demonstrate the solutions in local fields. In this paper, we will introduce our work in Takaharu Town, Miyazaki Prefecture, with Kyoto University and in Iwamizawa City, Hokkaido, with Hokkaido University, regarding the use of decentralized local energy.
