Authorization of ”Mechanical Engineering Heritage” by JSME

Abstract

As part of a project commemorating its 110th anniversary, the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers initiated the recognition of Mechanical Engineering Heritage in 2007. Understanding Mechanical Engineering Heritage is crucial for modern society to appreciate the impact of machines on our lives. The 2023 certifications include the ARAI lottery wheel, the High-Pressure Triple Plunge Pump “Sugino Pump First Machine,” the Macadam Roller SAKAI R1, the Strain Gage Type K-1, the ISHIKAWA-Marinoni Type Rotary Press with Folding Mechanism, and the NC Lathe MAZAK Turning Center 2500R. This report provides an overview and describes the characteristics of each heritage item, focusing on the history of mechanical technology and its influence on society.
