Approaches to attract the future generation in the region to the field of science and engineering

（3rd Report: Approaches toward the development of engineering human resources with a global perspective）

Abstract

At last year's annual conference, we introduced examples of approaches to the younger generation in Akita Prefecture. This year, we created an opportunity to foster high aspirations among high school students by not only raising their interest in the field of engineering, but also by letting them learn about cutting-edge technology research from a global perspective and the research and learning of overseas university students. We conducted a questionnaire survey from the students' and teachers' perspectives to identify issues they felt from actually experiencing communication in English through dialogue with overseas researchers and university students, such as room for improvement in language activities that focus on "interaction," "improvisation," and "problem-solving thinking," as well as global thinking.
