In order to develop and utilize renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, geothermal, and biomass in a way that is suitable for Japan, it is more reasonable to install relatively small- to medium-sized power generation systems and other energy supply facilities in optimal locations, rather than the traditional large-scale centralized energy supply system, and use them for the lives and industries of neighboring areas. This requires the advancement of local industries that support the manufacture, construction, operation, maintenance, etc. of components for power generation systems throughout their life cycle. In this lecture, the results of an investigation into the possibility of local production and consumption of renewable energy through the advancement of local industries will be reported.
