Abstract
We developed a method to estimate the leakage-flow-induced vibration of a valve. First, we linearized the continuity equation and three-dimensional Navier Stokes equations of annular leakage-flow between a valve and a cage and then discretized them. Second, we calculated the steady distributions of the flow velocity and density around the valve by using three-dimensional compressible CFD program. By substituting the computational results of distributions of the flow velocity and density into the linearied Navier Stokes equation, we obtained the fluid elastic force. From these fluid elastic force and vibration characteristics, we calculated frequencies, damping ratios and vibration modes of the valve by complex eigenvalue analysis. Calculated results showed reasonable agreement with experimental ones.
