Experimental Flutter Limits of Webs of Flexible Media

Abstract

With respect to webs of paper in a simplified basic configuration with its leading and trailing edges fixed in the flow, flutter limits and behaviors were measured in a low-speed wind tunnel. The experimental data converted into non-dimensional quantities of fluid force/tension and tension/bending stiffness show reasonable agreement with the theoretical prediction given in the first report, although they show some scatter around the predicted line yet.
