Abstract
A trial on fabrication of micro end mill by a micro turning system and its application to 3-dimesional micro machining has been performed in this study. Work material of tangsten carbide or sapphire, 0.3mm in diameter was clamped and cut to approximate 60μm in diameter to form micro end mill by a diamond single point tool. The fabricated micro tool is in turn directly applied as a 3-dimensional cutting tool. An brass plate was fixed on the tool rest instead of diamond cutting tool as work piece and some application of 3-dimesional micro machining has been practiced.
