Abstract

As for binder-less PcBN tool, the tool life was shortened on high speed turning of gray cast iron over 40.00m/s. This cause was that cutting heat accumulates in the binder-less PcBN sintered body and cutting temperature was raised to 1620K which was the temperature for deteriorating the binder-less sintered material. Therefore, the cutting temperature control system which used the cooling method by peltier module was built. It is clarified that tool temperature was reduced by applying the system at high speed condition at 45.00m/s. As a result of having applied this system the wear rate was reduced to about 1/50,and the productivity was improved at 1.25 times.
