Abstract

Focusing on the hardness, residual stress and inclusions, a simulation method was proposed to compute the fatigue strength of carburized gears. The simulation is based on the comparison of bending stress at every position of defects with material's strength. For the purpose of putting inclusions in the imaginary material for the computation, the distribution of the inclusions size is applied in the weibull distribution, based on the microscope observation. In this study, the influence of the weibull parameter on the fatigue strength distribution is investigated. In order to manufacture the high strength gear, decreasing the weibull parameter η of inclusions distribution in material is useful.
