Abstract

Synchronous-belt used for the camshaft drive in automobile engine is driven under fluctuation torque conditions. In this study, the belt deformation, namely belt curvature and shearing strain, is measured under the fluctuation torque condition. Especially, the effect of pitch difference between belt and pulley on the belt deformation is discussed. The belt deformation is small for the short pitch belts.
