Abstract

Helical synchronous belt is used in order to reduce noise and transmission error. However side tracking in helical synchronous belt is more problematic than that in conventional drives. In the present study, method for reducing side tracking in helical synchronous belt by adjusting outside diameter of the pulley under torque was investigated both theoretically and experimentally. As a result, side tracking can be reduced when outside diameter on the driving pulley is larger than that on the driven pulley. It can be adjusted outside diameter of the pulley so as not to cause side tracking.
