Abstract
Flow around Ground Effect Transport System (GETS), that is called "Aerotrain", was analyzed by Computational Flow Dynamics (CFD). Aerotrain uses principle of airplane and wing-in-ground effect. It needs very few amounts of energy consumption because of its high efficiency which originate in ground effect. Therefore, operation will become possible only with natural energy from solar panels and windmills attached on guide way. Navier-Stokes equations were solved by using unstructured grid method and finite volume scheme. Geometry of Aerotrain with guide way was modeled by computer-aided design (CAD) system and graphic-user-interface (GUI) application. Lift-to-drag ratio was 5.75,although that in freestream was 6.03. It was found that drag of wing became larger when Aerotrain flies very close to ground. This was because of interaction between body, ground, and flow.
