Abstract
This paper describes how we, the Kochi University of Technology, educate product design and development using 3D-CAD, CAE, and Rapid Prototyping. In the past, design education using drafters was common. However, 3D-CAD education has become more common due to the recent trend of cheap software and more convenient computer tools. The issues to be considered for the product design and development education relate to selection of development theme and how students can learn by themselves. Haying educational tools such as CAD/CAM, rapid prototyping as well as the software for large file compression and collaboration, the project for product development has been conducted. This reports how we conducted the product development education.
