Abstract
Machines and other structures have many parts that are fastened together with volts. It is important that we understand the precise mechanical properties of the threaded portion, so we can use it safely. Usually, the yield point of the threaded portion of a bolt cannot be measured by a tensile test. Intelligent universal test machines were developed that could measure the relationship between stress and strain, stress and time and strain and time. We measured the yield point of stud bolt austenitic steel using this machine. In this report, we described a measurement method to determine the yield point of the threaded portion and the results. Analysis of the experimental results was carried out using the relationship between stress and time. The deformation behavior of the bolt was different in each testing condition and we were able to obtain a clear yield point of the threaded portion by examining it under appropriate conditions. The yield point referred to in this report is termed the elasticity-plasticity transition point.
