Abstract
The authors have developed a numerical simulation scheme for a selective exhaustion system. A selective exhaustion system can choose the position of the optimal concentrated exhaust port in the tunnel of facing traffic according to traffic ratio. A selective exhaustion system is effective especially in the route with big deviation in traffic ratio. The simulator is applied to the Hida Tunnel, which is under construction as a part of Tokai Hokuriku Expressway. The Hida tunnel exceeds over 10km, has ventilation stations at both portals, and uses side duct or lower section as exhaustion duct. The calculation results show that smooth transition of blade angle could be realized, and it is shown that the current simulator is an effective tool to design such a ventilation system.
