Abstract
An optical measuring device for measurements of radial error motions of miniature ultra-high-speedr spindles has been developed. It is essential to measure the radial error motion of the miniature ultra-high-speed spindle in order to verify the machining accuracy of the miniature machine tool. The optical measuring device is based on laser auto-collimation and uses a small steel ball, mounted on to the miniature ultra-high-speed spindle, as a reflector. This paper describes the configuration and the measurement principle of the developed device and shows some of the measurement data of the radial error motion and the analysis results.
