Abstract
The objective of this study was to clarify flow around a skydiver using numerical technique of the computational fluid dynamics (CFD). In order to calculate the incompressible steady flow, the CFD model was constructed based on the skydiver's body size measured in the experiment. In order to evaluate the validity of the constructed CFD model, fluid force computed in the simulation was compared with the experimental data. The standard k-ε turbulence model and wall function were used as the solver. A close agreement was achieved between experimental and CFD fluid forces. The locally low pressure distribution on the side of the skydiver's body indicates the flow separation. The low velocity magnitude distribution on the back of the skydiver's body indicates the wake area.
