Abstract
The aim of this investigation is to realize a large Reynolds number flow such as the flow around a heavy-duty truck in a small wind tunnel. In the case of the wind tunnel experiments of small scale model of heavy-duty trucks, flow fields are sometimes different to that of the real scale model. In this paper, we attempted to simulate high Reynolds number flow with an active turbulence generator. The experimental results show the flow properties of the truck placed at turbulent flow are almost same as the high Reynolds number flow. We find out an empirical equation to estimate an actual Reynolds number with a function of intensity of turbulence and scale of eddies. The result shows the large Reynolds number flow can be estimated with the empirical equation
