Abstract
In order to improve the properties of hydrogen storage alloy, LaNi_5 thin films and Pd/LaNi_5 multi-layered thin film have been manufactured and investigated. The thin films were made by vacuum deposition method. Hydrogen storage capacities of LaNi_5 powder, thin film, and Pd/LaNi_5 multi-layered thin film were determined by measuring pressure-composition isotherm (PCT) curves. It was found that hydrogen storage capacity of LaNi_5 thin films was smaller than powder form, but heat-treatment and Pd coating improved the capacity. TEM analysis appeared that the structure of LaNi_5 thin films was amorphous and it was crystallized by He atmosphere heat-treatment at 500℃.
