Abstract
To understand the effect of spray combustion characteristics of bio diesel fuel, the diesel spray flame formed in a high temperature and high pressure combustion vessel was visualized by ICCD camera and analyzed by two color method. The bio fuels examined in this study are PME, RME and CME, and compared with diesel oil. It is confirmed that the ignition delay and combustion period of bio fuels are almost equivalent with those of diesel oil. The flame temperature decreased slightly with the bio fuel. On the other hand, soot production decreased dramatically corresponding well with the oxygen fraction in each fuels.
