Abstract
A lot of researches have been carried out on the self-loosening of bolt under transverse vibration. The cause of loosening due to nut rotation in bolt-nutjoints is the spiral shape of screw thread. In the present study, the objective of the paper is to eluciade the loosening mechanism. In boltedjoints, friction torque occurs at screw thread and the bearing surfaces. In this paper, the effect of the friction torque on the loosening is examined. Firstly, the effect of magnitude of these friction torque on the loosening is examined, and loosening mechanism is discussed according to the behaviors of the joint using FEM calculations.
