Abstract
The application of the reliability-based optimization to the traffic problem is described in this study. The traffic amount is maximized on the condition that the traffic accident risk is kept under the value specified in advance. The traffic accident risk is modeled from the traffic data at the loop line in Paris. The results show that the traffic volume should be kept between 900 to 1500 vehicles/hour for reducing the traffic risk.
