Abstract
The laser quenching methods are used for manufacturing the products of which the high-quality quenching conditions etc. are required. Therefore, the establishment of the technique that evaluates the conditions is desired. In this study, the carbon steels in which carbon content (wt%) differs were irradiated with a YAG laser, in order to evaluate the conditions. Then, the AE (Acoustic Emission) signals that occurred by the laser irradiation were detected. After that, the detected signals were analyzed with wave analysis, FFT analysis and wavelet transform. And the conditions (i.e. hardness and quenching depth) were observed with the optical microscope. In this study, the relationships between the features of the signals and the conditions are reported.
