Abstract
In this study, tensile creep tests of jute fiber reinforced composites were conducted. The reinforcement is plain woven jute fiber cloth and matrix is poly lactic acid (PLA). The jute fiber and PLA are naturally-derived materials. So, the jute fiber reinforced composites have a poor interfacial adhesion. Silane treatment was conducted to the jute fiber cloth and the effect of surface treatment on tensile creep properties of jute fiber reinforced composites was examined. In a result, the interface property between fiber and matrix was improved by the silane treatment and the creep strain decreased. The creep velocity also decreased by improving the interfacial adhesion in high temperature above glass transition point. The improvement of the interface was observed by using SEM.
