Abstract
In this study, influence of nut configuration on fatigue characteristic of bolt/nut assembly under transverse vibration has been investigated. In the experiments, the apparent fatigue limits were investigated for two bolt/nut assemblies tightened with two different nuts, flange nut and taper nut. An influence of clamping force on fatigue characteristic has also investigated for each bolt/nut assembly. The results showed that the apparent fatigue limit of the bolt/nut assembly tightened with the taper nut was higher than that of the flange nut. If the clamping force was high, the apparent fatigue limit reduced.
