Abstract
The effect of CFRP chip content on the tensile strength and fracture toughness of polypropylene composites with CFRP chips has been investigated. Polypropylene composite with CFRP chip content from 0% to 20% were prepared using twin-screw extruders and small injection molding machine. Tensile strength of polypropylene composites with CFRP chip content of 5% was higher than that of 0%. However, tensile strength of polypropylene composites with CFRP chip decreased with increasing CFRP chip content. Fracture toughness of polypropylene composites did not change with CFRP chip content up to 15%. However, Fracture toughness of polypropylene composites with CFRP chip content of 20% decreased to 30% of that of not reinforced polypropylene.
