Abstract
In this study, the transmission and reflection characteristics of Lamb wave at a bonded interface between two plates are analyzed. In order to model imperfect bonding between plates, a spring interface model is used in the present analysis. The analysis is carried out by the hybrid finite element method, in which the region neighboring the interface is discretized into finite elements while the wave field outside this region is represented by the mode expansion of Lamb wave. The results show that the transmission and reflection characteristics are sensitive to the stiffness of the interface. In particular, at certain frequency complete transmission is seen even at imperfect interface when an AO-mode Lamb wave is incident.
